Created in December, 2008, by three French friends, Minh Spielmann, Benjamin Rascalou & Anthony Balenci, La Badiane -French for the Star Anise spice- is heralding its claim to be one of the best restaurants in Vietnam dedicated to fusion of flavors and international gastronomy.
Appreciated since the Antique notably for its digestive virtues, the badiane results from the badianier, tropical tree issued from the family of illiciaceae. Native from South-east Asia, the badianier can be found in China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan and the Philippines. High tree with evergreen leafs, its nice-smelling fruits are picked green then dried in the sun, where from their brown color firing at the red. The fruit, then used as a spice once dried, is the badiane. More simply, because of both its aniseed taste and studded shape, the vernacular name of the badiane is "the star anise". At la Badiane, all is about food but there's also great attention paid to the service and the overall atmosphere, so that we make sure you enjoy every aspect of your meal.
